Starz Community Spotlight: Sean Mckeon and LAX in L.A.

Sean McKeonSean Mckeon is the founder of LAX in L.A. and faculty advisor. Sean is also the New Media teacher at Manual Arts, located in South Central Los Angeles. He has coached at the high school level and started the lacrosse team at his high school in 1993. He is currently the boys' high school coaches' representative for the Greater Los Angeles chapter of US Lacrosse, the sport's national governing body. Sean played collegiately for the University of Arizona.

Los Angeles Inner City Lacrosse Association (LAX in LA) is a youth lacrosse program established in 2003 with the pursuit of bringing lacrosse to South Central LA. In 2003, LAX in LA assisted in the development of a boy's lacrosse club at Manual Arts High School. This season, Manual's boys team was an official C.I.F., school sanctioned, varsity sport. This was the first such sport offering at a regular LAUSD high school. We hope that the program at Manual Arts will provide both a model and incentive for the 54 other LAUSD city section high schools. Next year, Huntington Park Boys and Girls will also be C.I.F., hopefully in the LAUSD City Section!
