Bios
Richard
E. Webster is
the Director of the Starz
College Counseling program. With a career in
education spanning four decades, and a concentration
in college admissions counseling, Dick’s broad
understanding of the college admissions process has
opened doors for countless students.
Having earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University, where he also captained
the Blue Jays lacrosse team, Dick worked his way up the proverbial ladder as
teacher, coach, department chair, college counselor, headmaster and board president,
serving several outstanding academic institutions including Severn School (Severna
Park, MD), Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA), Wroxeter School (Arnold, MD),
Landon School (Bethesda, MD), La Lumiere School (La Porte, IN), Montclair Kimberley
Academy (Montclair, NJ), and Boys’ Latin School in Baltimore, where he
spent 12 years as Director of College Counseling.
Doug
Locker will
be joining
The Starz Foundation as a college counselor
in addition to his current duties as the San Francisco
Dragons first General Manager. Prior to his appointment,
Locker served for three years as the Director of Athletics
at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California.
While at NDNU he oversaw the Universities transition
from the NAIA to the NCAA, and was responsible for growing
the athletic department from six to eleven varsity sports.
Locker spent 23 years at Whittier College (CA) serving as Director of Athletic
Recruitment and Retention and Head Men's Lacrosse Coach. As the lacrosse coach
at Whittier he compiled a personal coaching record of 293-72 in a 21 year period.
In 2002, Locker was named the NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year after
guiding Whittier to its first ever NCAA tournament berth, where they were eventually
defeated in the NCAA National Quarterfinals. As members of the Western Collegiate
Lacrosse League, his teams won 10 League Championships from 1985-1999.
He served as a member of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Committee, was President of
the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League and was also a member of the United States
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Executive Board. In 2004 he was inducted
into the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of US Lacrosse Hall of Fame and was also
named as Team Manager for Team USA in the Heritage Cup played at the Pepsi Center
in Denver. Locker also currently serves as Assistant General Manager for the
San Jose Stealth of the National Lacrosse League.
Lane
Jaffe is
the in-house college counselor for the Starz
Foundation. Lane
Played Goalie at Rutgers University from 1994-1998, where
he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy. After
graduating from Rutgers, Lane moved out to California
and began his coaching career at UCLA. Lane spent
four years coaching at UCLA earning the recognition of
Western Collegiate Coach of the year in 2006. While
coaching at UCLA, Lane finished his Masters in Psychology
with a concentration in college counseling. He
currently coaches the Boys Varsity team at Palos Verdes
High School and works full time as college counselor
with the Starz Foundation.
